This week’s cocktail is a proverbial fleeting summer romance; never to be repeated, but never forgotten. With the bright raspberry, peach, and pear weaving together with spicy cinnamon and nutmeg, the aptly named Ephemera is a punch made from the bottle remnants of some delicious liquors mixed with juice and sparkling water.

We shall never taste this exact cocktail again, but that’s what makes each sip so special.

Zhuzhy G&T. Say that 5 times fast! Today's cocktail has two types of gin, Rosé, and a splash of lemony goodness!

In an ice-filled cocktail pitcher combine:
1.5oz Rosé
.75oz Sheringham Rhubarb Gin
.75oz Sheringham Seaside Gin
.25oz Lemon Juice
.25oz Sugar Cane Syrup

Give it a good stir, strain into an ice-filled rocks glass, top with your favourite tonic, and garnish with an expressed and swiped lemon peel.

Today’s weekend cocktail is a bit of an allegory on the pitfalls of using AI in place of human experience.

When asked to make a layered cocktail recipe out of three liquors of similar densities, ChatGPT had no problem coming up with one. It was encouraging, and said if at first you don’t succeed, try again. But, through experience, a mixologist/bartender would know that this would simply be an exercise in futility, and would just stir everything together with ice and call it a day. So, after we made the futile attempt ChatGPT cocktail to prove a point, we did just that.

There’s just no substitute for human experience, even when it comes to cocktail making.
